Caribou Migration

The artist begins by glossing the land with paint the color of a robin’s egg. She lays down layers of ivory tissues, adding texture and movement to her masterpiece. Through the center, she allows the blue to peak through unassumingly in a sweeping form. The artist grinds gray chalk in her palms and sprinkles the dust softly through her fingertips. But she is not quite done. The final touch: she peppers the piece with figures in rows, like ants marching across the lawn, and etches lines in their paths to show their trek. The landscape is complete.
